“What’s Stopping You?” is a question Miriam Preissel poses with this conceptual photography series of men as ballerinas. Men in Tutus, a stereotype-smashing examination of masculinity and femininity, asks others to examine their own boundaries. Dancers include a retired naval commander, a janitor, a tattoo artist and two fathers with their children. “From religious restrictions instilled at infancy, to inherited cultural ritual, so many limitations are founded on other people’s dogma. Life’s too good for that. George Bailey should have had his day. Just put on the damn tutu.” Video of photo shoot runs daily.
